Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possess basic skills of forming independent conclusions about educational processes in the world, in Ukraine and at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in different chronological periods, apply in practice the knowledge gained in the learning process. Be able to: characterize the peculiarities of the influence of world university traditions on the formation of the Ukrainian educational system; understand the essence of historical processes that influenced the development of university education in the Ukrainian lands;
Course content
Familiarization with the primary sources of classical education and its traditions. Coverage of the peculiarities of Western European university education at different stages of historical development from antiquity to the present. Characterization of the evolution of national higher education, the formation and functioning of universities on Ukrainian lands. Historical overview of the process of founding and further scientific and pedagogical activities of the university in Kyiv (XIX - XXI centuries). Analysis of the current situation of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the Faculty of Geography against the background of global trends in higher education.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, independent work, discussions. The total amount of 90 hours, including: Lectures - 14 hours. Seminars - 14 hours. Independent work - 60 hours. Consultations - 2 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
The course has 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The course ends with a test. Semester assessment: Primary source summary: maximum 10 points Seminar classes: maximum 20 points Presentation of independent research: maximum 10 points; Written test: (40 test tasks, for each of which a student can receive 0.5 points): maximum 20 points. The proportion of learning outcomes in the final grade, provided that it is mastered at the appropriate level, is as follows: learning outcomes 1.1 - 1.5 (knowledge) - up to 10% for each; learning outcomes 2.1-2.4 (skills) - up to 10% for each; learning outcome 3 (communication) - up to 5%; learning outcome 4 (autonomy and responsibility) - up to 5%.
