PLO 5. Apply conceptual knowledge of natural and socio-economic sciences when performing tasks of geodesy and land management. PLO 6. To know the history and features of the development of geodesy and land management, their place in the general system of knowledge about nature and society.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: - the main historical prerequisites for the formation of university education in the world; - the main stages and features of the development of educational processes in Ukrainian lands; - possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude and forecasting regarding political, economic, cultural events and phenomena. Be able: - characterize the peculiarities of the influence of world university traditions on the formation of the Ukrainian educational system; - to understand the essence of historical processes that influenced the development of university education in Ukrainian lands; - to have elementary skills of forming independent conclusions about educational processes in the world, in Ukraine and at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in different chronological periods, to apply in practice the knowledge gained during training.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to give students knowledge about the history of university education, the main stages of activity of Kyiv University in general, the Faculty of Geography and the Department of Geodesy and Cartography in particular; to facilitate the adaptation of first-year students to study at the university using modern theories and methods of researching phenomena of natural and man-made origin when performing professional tasks in the field of geodesy and land management, observing changes in the state of objects in space and time using a complex of interdisciplinary data.

Assessment methods and criteria
Conditions for admission to credit: the recommended minimum for admission is 36 points. For students who scored a total of less than 36 points (recommended minimum) number, a mandatory condition for admission to the credit is the writing of essays on issues of missed or insufficiently mastered topics. - the final assessment in the form of credit is conducted in written format. The maximum number of points during the assessment is 40, the minimum number of points added to semester grades is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the assessment). The final grade in the discipline consists of the points scored by the student based on the results of the semester control of the first and second parts and the points of the final test.
