1. To display knowledge of different types of interpretation and translation, methods of micro-abstracting and compression of the text, the system of records in consecutive translation, translation techniques and transformations, professional terminology and clichés inherent in professional texts in Ukrainian and English; set expressions; structural and compositional features of different types of essays (abstract - essay, abstract-summary, abstract in descriptive form, essays based on several sources) and annotations, as well as the vocabulary in Ukrainian and English languages. 2. To carry out consecutive translation: paragraph and phrase translation, consecutive interpreting using a special recording system, two-way interpretation using clear and expressive pronunciation skills at the required pace for the translator.

The student must be able to produce a complete written translation of scientific, publisictic and official texts, making them adequate using lexical and grammatical means; to have habits and skills of translation techniques and transformations, primary skills of abstract translation (abstract - essay and abstract in descriptive form).

1st Semester Module 1. Topic 1. Nominal and verbal word combinations in professional texts. Set expressions. Topic 2. Terms and terminological word combinations and their Ukrainian equivalents. Topic 3. Syntactic synonymy in scientific style. Topic 4. Oral scientific style. Module 2. Topic 5. Set phrases in the texts of print and audiovisual media. Topic 6. Language and style of audiovisual media, speech transmission of communication participants. Topic 7. Precision words in interpretation, translation of proper names and abbreviations. Topic 8. Expressive means in oral publicistic style. 2nd Semester Module 1. Topic 9. Key information and redundancy of the text. Topic 10. Quantum text structure and speech segmentation. Topic 11. Speech compression and microreferencing. Topic 12. Text transformation. Module 2. Topic 13. Stereotype language means in thematic expressions. Topic 14. Technique and etiquette of the interpreter's oral speech. Topic 15. Common symbols and abbreviations in consecutive translation. Topic 16. The procedure for making records in a consecutive translation and converting records into text.

Practical classes

1. Two content modules, each of 10 points - 20 points; 2. Current control of progress: written complete and abstract translation 20 points, consecutive interpretation 10 points, prepared conversational topics in English language 10 points - 40 points in total; 3. Comprehensive final module: 40 points in total.
