Learning outcomes
Need to know: - the essence of the concepts of "derivative financial instruments", - main theoretical aspects of regulation, planning and management of derivative financial instruments, - features of application of some modern strategies for hedging price and exchange rate risks, - organizational aspects of stock exchange business in Ukraine and abroad, - the specifics of the work of various subjects of international investment activities in the context of operations with derivative financial instruments in Ukraine and the most developed countries, - experience of exchange and investment intermediaries of the world's leading investment, banking, financial and consulting companies. Gain basic communication skills in the application and management of derivative financial instruments, hedging techniques of foreign economic contracts

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The theoretical basis of the discipline "Derivative financial instruments in international business" are the disciplines "Fundamentals of Economic Theory", "Financial Theory", "Theory of World Economy and International Economic Relations", "Risk Management in International Business", "Insurance in International Business", "Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing", "Statistical Methods of Analysis of Economic Processes", etc.
Course content
The course consists of two content modules. The first is devoted to acquaintance with the theoretical principles of derivatives, economic essence of derivatives and their classification, the current state of the world market of derivatives, features of forward contracts, characteristics of commodity futures as an investment instrument of stock exchange movement and more. The second content module covers practical aspects of the use of derivative financial instruments, the growth of financial futures, the benefits of options trading, organizational aspects of stock trading, the economic nature of stock speculation, features of hedging price and exchange rate risks, prospects for derivative financial instruments in Ukraine. The material is taught taking into account the peculiarities, specifics, traditions and practices of international business.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment is formed by the points received by the student in the process of mastering the material of all content modules. Final evaluation. The exam in the discipline is conducted in writing. The student's answer to the exam is estimated at a maximum of 40 points.
