Learning outcomes
To know the theoretical foundations and evolution of the EU common transport policy; main functions of the EU institutions and agencies in the field of common transport policy; basic EU legal acts and international treaties in the field of road transport; basic EU legal acts and international treaties in the field of rail transport; basic EU legal acts and international treaties in the field of inland waterway transport; basic EU legal acts and international treaties in the field of air transport; basic EU legal acts and international treaties in the field of maritime transport. To be able to generalise and systematise the main legal provisions and case law in the field of European transport law; to analyse the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union regarding various issues in the field of common transport policy; apply the acquired knowledge to solve practical problems related to improving the legal mechanisms of European integration, etc.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in English; knowledge of basic aspects of EU law, i.e., nature, specifics of implementation and the scope of application of the EU legal acts; principles of competences division between the EU and the member states; EU internal market law, etc.; ability to apply respective knowledge in the course of solving practical cases.

Thematic plan of the discipline: 1. Transport system and common transport policy of the EU. Legal and institutional mechanism of the EU transport policy 2. Legal regulation of maritime transport in the EU 3. Legal regulation of air transport in the EU 4. Legal regulation of road transport in the EU 5. Legal regulation of rail transport in the EU 6. Legal regulation of inland waterway transport in the EU 7. Legal regulation of combined transport and multimodal transportation in the EU 8. Legal regulation of energy transport systems in the EU 9. Legal regime of third countries access to the transport market of the EU

Assessment methods and criteria
The final course assessment is based on the aggregated evaluation of assignments performed by a student during the semester graded on the scale of 0-100. The final grade is taken in the form of credit (the total number of grades for the course which is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester). Forms of assessment: answers (up to 30 points), written analytical assignments (up to 15 points), presentation of reports, case study (up to 15 points), final test (up to 40 points).
