Learning outcomes
Know the concept of culture and its ambiguity, basic methods and sources for the study of culture, periodization of world culture, basic achievements of international thought in cultural studies. Have general knowledge about everyday culture, processes shaping the world outlook of every individual. Know main personalities and major achievements of world culture, the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of mankind. Know the history of how measures for the protection of historical and cultural monuments in Ukraine and other countries of the world were adopted, the history of the creation and the functioning of museums and galleries, and other types of cultural promotion. Be able to comprehend, analyse, interpret and compare key phenomena of world culture. Be able to analyse the current organizational and legal principles of cultural heritage protection. Be able to use the acquired knowledge to develop their own digital projects aiming at cultural promotion.

1. Basic knowledge of World History.
2. Ability to analyze and interpret texts in the humanities.
3. Have the basic skills of critical thinking.
4. Fluent English.

Thematic plan of the discipline:
Theme 1. The concept of culture. Culture as an object of interdisciplinary research. Periodization of world culture
Theme 2. Mythologies and world religions in the cultural heritage of mankind.
Theme 3. Development of architecture and sculpture.
Theme 4. Painting, applied and decorative arts.
Theme 5. History of music, theater and cinematography.
Theme 6. Education and science as components of cultural development.
Theme 7. Culture of everyday life.
Theme 8. World Cultural Heritage: Protection and Promotion.

Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is carried out according to the modular rating system. Current control: oral answers at the seminar (up to 42 points), creative task (individual work) (up to 18 points), express control (up to 20 points), final module control work (up to 20 points). The form of final control is a credit.
