Learning outcomes
To know the concept of public international law (international law); the features characteristic of the modern international law and the main tendencies of its development; the trends of international law's influence upon international relations in all their aspects; the system and the structure of the modern international law; - the approaches of the scholarly thought of international law as well as of international law and the national law of Ukraine as to the settlement of the problem of relations between international and national law; the persons/ subjects of international legal relations; the basis of responsibility of the persons/ subjects of international law for the breach of its norms; the main concepts of the particular branches of international law.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To master successfully the courses "The History of Ukraine", "The History of International Relations". 2. To know the theory basis of state and law.
Course content
Module 1. The theory of state and law: 1. The concept and the features characteristic of international law. 2. The sources of international law. 3. The modern international law as a system. 4. The fundamental principles of international law. 5. The international law and the national (municipal) law. 6. The persons/ subjects of international law. 7. The responsibility and sanctions in international law. Module 2. The main branches of international law: 8. The law of international treaties. 9. International law and the human being (citizenship and international law; international law of human rights protection). 10. The principal matters of territory in international law. The international maritime, air and sea law. 11. International law and war (the law of international security and the international humanitarian law). 12. The peaceful settlement of international disputes under international law. International criminal law.

Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is carried out according to the modular rating system. Current control: answers (up to 15 points for module1 , up to 20 points for module 2); out-of-class work (up to 21 points for module 1 , up to 10 points for module 2); final module quizzes (up to 24 points for module 1, up to 30 points for module 2). The form of final control is an exam. The exam is conducted in writing. The student's answer to the exam –up to 40 points.
