Learning outcomes
To demonstrate knowledge on the nature, evolution, theoretical research of international relations and world politics, as well as the nature and sources of foreign policy and the activities of other participants in international relations. To demonstrate knowledge about the nature of interactions of individual countries and regions at the global, regional and local levels. To carry out activities in diplomatic and other areas related to international cooperation. To participate in professional discussions on international relations, foreign policy and international communications. To defend the interests of Ukraine in various spheres of international relations.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To have core knowledge of the history of international relations and the history of Ukraine. 2. To be able to analyze the dynamics of interstate diplomatic cooperation. 3. To possess basic skills of political analysis, analysis of international situations and forecasting.
Course content
Module 1. Diplomacy and diplomatic practice: Topic 1. Introduction. The concept of diplomacy and diplomatic service. Topic 2. State bodies of foreign relations. Structure and functions of the diplomatic service of Ukraine. Topic 3. Establishment of diplomatic relations and diplomatic missions. Topic 4. Diplomatic representation: structure, staff, functions. Topic 5. Sectoral diplomacy. Topic 6. Diplomatic privileges and immunities. Module 2. Consular work and practice of multilateral diplomacy: Topic 7. Establishing consular relations and opening consular offices. Topic 8. Functions of consular offices. Consular privileges and immunities. Topic 9. Diplomacy of special missions and the practice of multilateral diplomacy. Topic 10. Methods and means of diplomatic communication. Topic 11. Basic models of diplomatic services of the modern world. Topic 12. Protocol support of the diplomatic service.
