Learning outcomes
The student must know the basics of a special theory relativity; basics of electromagnetic field theory; basics of the theory of radiation of electromagnetic waves; antenna radiation, dipole radiation in near zone; basic linear and non-linear characteristics of substances (electrical and magnetic); basics of diffraction theory; waveguides and resonators. The student must be able to solve typical problems that require the use of electrodynamics methods; to find the optimal method necessary for solving the problem of electrodynamics, a problem, a technical engineering task.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
To study the discipline "Electrodynamics" a successful mastery is necessary of the following courses: "Mathematical analysis", "General algebra", "Differential equations and probability theory", "Mechanics", "Theoretical mechanics", "Molecular Physics", "Electricity and Magnetism".
Course content
"Electrodynamics" includes the main ones sections of vacuum electrodynamics and continuous medium electrodynamics and includes the following main content modules: special theory of relativity, equations of the electromagnetic field, electromagnetic waves, electromagnetic fields in substances (radiation), diffraction and interference, interaction electromagnetic waves with matter. Assessment methods and criteria
According to the results of the semester evaluation in the first semester, a student can receive a maximum of 60 points. According to the results of the semester evaluation in the second semester, a student can receive a maximum of 40 points. Final assessment in the first semester (in the form of credit): form of credit is written and oral. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, while the grade for credit cannot be less than 20 points. Final evaluation in the second semester (in the form of an exam): the form of the exam is written and oral. A total of 0 to 60 points can be obtained for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, while the exam grade cannot be less than 20 points.
