Learning outcomes
The student should know: - principles of operation of infrastructure network protocols DNS and DHCP; - authentication, authorization and accounting functions in the corporate network; - operating principles of applied protocols SNMP, RADIUS, LDAP, Kerberos; - methods and approaches to diagnosis, detection and elimination of problems in the operation of network services. The student should be able to: - install network services and related software in Linux and Windows environment; - create configurations for network services according to the assigned task; - check the operation of services according to the created configuration locally and from other devices in the network; - identify and eliminate errors in the configuration and other problems of the operation of network services.

The educational discipline "Databases for network infrastructure" is based on the cycle of disciplines of professional and practical bachelor's training, namely: "Programming".
Course content
The course "Databases for network infrastructure" is aimed at acquiring practical skills in system and network administration, in particular, the ability to diagnose and eliminate problems in the operation of network infrastructure services. The course examines the principles of operation, specifics of application and deployment of computer network infrastructure services that operate with specialized databases. In particular, the course considers the domain name service as a distributed hierarchical database, the DHCP service as a database of address information, the web proxy as a repository of frequently requested documents, the SNMP agent service as a universal database of device parameters, the RADIUS protocol for implementing authentication, authorization and accounting for network access, the LDAP directory service as a centralized storage of user and group authentication data, the Kerberos infrastructure as an implementation of the single sign-on principle in the corporate network. The course also covers the technologies of virtual private networks and automated OS download and installation over the network. The course is taught over two semesters and includes laboratory work on all topics, which are taught using standard Windows and Linux tools.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: each of the two academic semesters has 6 laboratory works. In each of the two semesters, the defense of laboratory works with a total number of points of at least 30 is mandatory. In addition to laboratory works, self-completed tasks on the subject of classes can be included. Final evaluation: the form of assessment (in the first semester) is oral-practical. The student receives a set of tasks to perform in the laboratory environment, which are evaluated in total from 0 to 40 points. The form of the exam (in the second semester) is written. The examination ticket consists of 4 questions, each question is evaluated up to 10 points. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. In each of the two academic semesters, the condition for achieving a positive grade for the discipline is to receive at least 60 points, the grade for credit (in the first semester) and exam (in the second semester) cannot be less than 20 points.
