Course content
The academic discipline "Computational Linguistics" is a course within the Elective Block 2 "Applied Linguistics". Within this discipline, the main directions of computational linguistics and its conceptual apparatus are discussed. Students acquire the necessary knowledge about language and speech from the perspective of computational linguistics, familiarize themselves with typical research methods in the field, and learn basic algorithms for processing linguistic material. The theoretical foundations and practical implementations of modern NLP systems (automatic translation and text editing systems, speech synthesis and recognition, dialogue systems) are studied.
During the classes, students have the opportunity to explore new avenues for the application of computer technologies in the study of language and speech phenomena, and gain experience in solving practical tasks related to the processing of textual and audio data.
