Learning outcomes
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels.
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication.
PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying.
PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.
PLO 18. To present the results of one’s research to the academic community in academic publications or presentations at conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in the German language, written mediation in the first foreign language, and consecutive oral mediation at level C2 (professional user) in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to familiarize students with the main rhetorical techniques and techniques of academic discourse, types and genres of oral and written academic communication, and to develop language competencies for successful oral mediation in academic discourse. It also aims to build a lexical foundation of scientific terminology for discussion and presentation of students' own research projects. The discipline consists of seven content modules and includes one module test per semester. The course material outlines the peculiarities of academic discourse, the specificity of scientific texts, and teaches students oral interaction in an academic environment, presentation skills, conducting scientific discussions, engaging in high-level scientific debates, presenting their own arguments, and asking questions during discussions. It also helps students acquire necessary linguistic phrases for presenting research findings within the scope of their master's theses.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities throughout the semester:
tasks performed during independent work;
intermediate assessment - oral response, contributions, participation in discussions during lectures and seminars, blitz questioning, tests;
projects, presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment is carried out according to the ECTS system, which includes a two-level assessment of the acquired material. It involves assessing theoretical preparation - learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1-1.4), which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and assessing practical preparation - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.2); (communication 3.1); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1), which accounts for 60% of the total grade. The final grade is determined based on the student's performance throughout the semester. The forms of work include oral responses, contributions, participation in discussions during lectures and seminars, blitz questioning, tests, presentations, essays, reports, creative tasks, mini-projects, note-taking, summarizing, and module work. Students who achieve the minimum passing score of 60 receive a "pass" grade. Students who do not reach the minimum passing score of 60 receive a "fail" grade. The maximum grade for the course is 100.
