Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To apply modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific linguistic field. PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying. Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course does not require prior knowledge of the methodology of teaching foreign languages and foreign literature or practical teaching experience. Knowledge of the German language, knowledge of the theory of literature and the history of foreign literature, as well as basic skills of linguistic text analysis and literary analysis of literary works are assumed.
Course content
"Methodology of teaching foreign languages and foreign literature in higher education" is a basic educational discipline designed to ensure the formation of methodological competence - knowledge and skills, the ability and readiness to plan, organize, implement, reflect on the process of learning a foreign language and foreign literature in higher education, control and evaluate students' educational achievements. The educational discipline "Methodology of teaching foreign languages and foreign literature in higher education" contributes to the formation of the ability to apply technologies, approaches, methods, principles, means of teaching foreign languages and foreign literature in higher education, the ability to apply domestic and world experience in teaching foreign languages and foreign literature in higher education, the ability to control and correct the knowledge, skills and abilities of students in foreign language and foreign literature in higher education, the ability to solve problems related to the process of learning a foreign language and foreign literature in higher education; adapt to changes in the educational space.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: lectures, practical classes, independent work. Teaching methods: explanatory and illustrative method, method of problem-based learning (problem lecture), heuristic method, preparation and discussion of presentations based on the results of scientific research, project work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: answers to practical classes, preparation and presentation of projects. The final assessment is an exam. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
