Learning outcomes
As a result of mastering the course, students should know the theoretical and methodological foundations of modern science, the main methods of conducting scientific research, the peculiarities of research work in museums; to be able to apply the acquired knowledge when conducting independent scientific research, to describe the methods of scientific research and the main directions of the museum's scientific work.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basic concepts and terms of museology, directions of work of museum institutions, 2. Be able to work with scientific literature, search for information from various sources, check its reliability. 3. To have elementary skills of analysis of the source base, work with museum objects.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, practical classes, modular control work, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. The course "Research work in museums" involves the formation of students' knowledge about science as a form of knowledge, its components; mastering the skills of selecting sources and independent scientific research; study of the rules of design of scientific papers, citations, bibliographic references; familiarization with the concepts of "intellectual property" and "academic integrity". A separate block is dedicated to the specifics of the functioning of museums as scientific institutions, the characteristics of the main directions of scientific work in museums, and the forms of publicizing the results of research activities of museums.

Planned educational activities and teaching methods - lectures, seminar classes, practical and independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work. The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are: • complete disclosure of the issue • the logic of presentation • use of basic and additional literature • analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
