Learning outcomes
Development of students' abilities and skills to analyze the ethnic map of the world, areal and regional processes of ethnogenesis of various peoples, to classify peoples. To be able to reveal the nature and main trends of the development of ethnology as a science, to clarify the peculiarities and characteristic features of ethnological schools, as well as to comprehensively characterize the main stages of the formation of ethnological knowledge. Mastering the skills of characterizing typological groups of monuments of folk culture, systematic analysis of various storage funds of ethnographic, local history, and historical museums and their ethnographic collections.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the most important facts, events and processes of the history of the Ukrainian people and the peoples of the world, the principles of classification of museums. 2. Be able to: apply conceptual scientific approaches in practice; critically analyze various information, independently select literature and work with sources; analyze ethnological research from the point of view of acquired theoretical and methodological foundations. 3. Possess: the ability for abstract thinking, analysis, synthesis; readiness for self-development, self-realization, use of creative potential; readiness for public speaking in the field, to prove one's own conclusions, proposals, arguments.
Course content
The course "Ethnology and ethnographic monuments" highlights the processes of formation and development of ethnology as a science, its source base and the main theories of the development of the ethnos. In addition, the connection of ethnology with other sciences is revealed and ethnic processes from ancient times to the present are highlighted. Considerable attention is also paid to consideration of museums whose exhibits highlight folk culture. In particular, these are: houses, other architectural (non-residential) objects - farm buildings, windmills, inns, churches, etc.; household items, dishes, furniture, public transport, livestock harnesses, clothes, jewelry, shoes, work tools, icons (written not by professionals, but folk craftsmen), folk art products (carpets, towels, pottery, wooden, woven, leather, glass, metal products, Easter eggs, etc.). We are also talking about all those material things that were used during the rites, and which were not destroyed after the rites. A description of ethnographic museums is given detailing what they all keep. Attention is also drawn to those museums that are not called ethnographic, but contain objects of national material culture. Ethnographic collections presented in museum halls and stored in their funds are analyzed. The course also examines the process of forming these collections, the subject composition of monuments and the peculiarities of their storage.

Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment: - form of assessment – exam; - the maximum number of points that can be obtained by a student is 40 points; - the following learning outcomes of the student are evaluated: the ability to reveal the nature and main trends of the development of foreign ethnology as a science, to clarify the peculiarities and characteristic features of foreign ethnological schools, the ability to comprehensively characterize the main stages of the formation of ethnological knowledge. - the form of the exam is written, the types of tasks are tasks that require detailed answers; - the minimum threshold level of the exam grade, at which the exam is considered passed - 24 points. Necessary condition for admission to the exam: a student is not admitted to the exam if during the semester he scored less than 20 points (critical-calculated minimum). The recommended minimum admission to the exam is 36 points.
