As a result of studying the course, students should know the main stages of the formation of museum and monument protection in Ukraine and the world, the specifics of the formation of national legislation, as well as monument protection and museum institutions in different territories in the historical context, determine the main trends and directions in the field of monument protection of museums and museum affairs; to be able to orientate in the literature on the problems of museum studies, monument studies, the main aspects of museum and monument preservation work.

Full-time form

To know the most important facts, events and processes of the historical past of mankind, the history of culture of Ukraine and the world. Be able to work with scientific literature, search for information from various sources, check its reliability. To have the terminology in the field of museology, monument studies.

The course provides students with the formation of knowledge about the formation of monument studies and museology as separate sciences, the formation of the museum as a socio-cultural institution, the state, public international system of monument protection. The prerequisites for the emergence of the phenomenon of collecting in the ancient world, in the times of antiquity and the Middle Ages, the need for the protection of monuments in Ukraine and the world are analyzed; the process of becoming a museum as a socio-cultural and public institution during the Renaissance and Enlightenment; emergence and development of national legislation in the field of cultural and natural heritage protection; the role of international organizations, scientific societies and the public for the origin and development of historical studies, monument protection and museum affairs. The impact of wars and revolutions on museums and monuments, their protection and preservation is studied separately.

Planned educational activities and teaching methods: - a lecture - seminar classes - independent work - test - oral interview - essay

The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work. The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are: • complete disclosure of the issue • the logic of presentation • use of basic and additional literature • analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
