Learning outcomes
To acquaint students with the processes that led to the emergence of modern science and its fundamental results. To give them the opportunity to learn the set of methodological tools of science in general and their professional discipline in particular, to provide students with knowledge and skills that create the necessary methodological basis for carrying out professional research work and its presentation to the scientific community.

1. Be able to: use the knowledge, skills, and abilities formed in the process of studying mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, informatics, and astronomy at a secondary school.
2. To know the theoretical foundations of professional disciplines.
3. To have elementary skills in the selection and interpretation of information.
Course content
The educational discipline "Scientific image of the world" is intended to acquaint students of humanities faculties of universities with the history of the emergence and development of science in society and achievements in its individual fields. This discipline should contribute to the formation in students of a modern scientific outlook, without which it is difficult to imagine the civilization of the 21st century.
The scientific image of the world is a complete system of ideas about the general properties and laws of nature that surrounds man. These ideas were born and developed simultaneously and in parallel with the development of civilization. The scientific image of the world is formed in society and is based on the achievements of the natural, social and humanitarian sciences.
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work.
The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale.
The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are:
• complete disclosure of the issue
• the logic of presentation
• use of basic and additional literature
• analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
