Learning outcomes
The tasks of studying the discipline are aimed at acquiring the following competencies by the candidate of educational and scientific level "Doctor of Philosophy": to communicate freely on the issues in the area of functioning of the mechanism of legal protection of intellectual property results; to formulate scientific approaches and hypotheses of protection of objects of intellectual property in various spheres of public relations; critically comprehend scientific hypotheses, practice of application of current legislation, formulate own scientific theories, substantiate own positions on debatable issues in the field of intellectual property in order to solve problems and formulate proposals for draft regulations in the area of intellectual property protection.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for mastering the discipline: 1. Know the legal basis for the formation and development of legal institutions; scientific sources on the issues of legal protection of the results of creative activity, acts of legislation governing the relations of participants in the field of acquisition, exercise and protection of rights to the results of intellectual and creative activity. 2. Be able to evaluate and apply modern information technologies in scientific activities, search and critical analysis of information to determine the role and objectives of protection of intellectual property. 3. Have basic skills in drafting legal documents, taking into account the specifics of the practical situation and with the help of legal methods to resolve disputes arising in the field of protection of intellectual property rights.
Course content
The discipline "Intellectual Property Law" is part of the cycle of professional training for students of educational and scientific level "Doctor of Philosophy" in "Law" at the Education and Research Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The main components of the discipline are the formation of competencies aimed at demonstrating the ability to apply new knowledge in one’s own research and professional practice in the area of intellectual property protection; formulation of working hypotheses on the issues of intellectual property law; knowledge of the works of leading researchers in the area of intellectual property; qualified reflection of the results of research into intellectual property law.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The study of the discipline involves lectures and practical classes; express survey/testing/essay (abstract) on the proposed topic; modular test work; independent work of students in preparation for seminars for "PhD" candidates; exam.
Assessment methods and criteria
Types of ongoing performance evaluation can be: express survey, report, scientific work, testing (from the set of judgments to choose the right ones), case solving (tasks), module-on control work (final test work). For ongoing performance evaluation at the seminars, the following should be assessed: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the student in the answer, activity in discussing the issues of the seminar, regular work in the classroom, the results of independent work. The discipline is taught during one term. 10 days before the beginning of the session, the teacher who conducts the seminars stops taking practice. For "PhD" candidates who have not reached the minimum level of assessment, a final test is conducted.
