Learning outcomes
The tasks of studying the discipline are aimed at acquiring the following competencies by the candidate of educational and scientific level "Doctor of Philosophy": to communicate freely on the problems of protection and implementation of innovations in various spheres of life; to formulate scientific approaches and hypotheses in the field of protection of objects of innovative activity, an improvement of the legal regulation of relations concerning implementation of innovations, the state support of innovative activity, the legal status of the subject of innovative activity; critically evaluate scientific hypotheses, practice of the current legislation application, formulate own scientific theories, positions on debatable issues in the field of innovation protection in order to solve problems and formulate proposals for drafts of legal acts in the field of regulation of relations arising in connection with protection and implementation of innovations.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for mastering the discipline: 1. To know the main aspects of the formation and development of legal institutions; general principles of legal enforcement of the protection of creative activity results, acts of the legislation governing the relations of participants in the field of innovative activity. 2. To be able to evaluate and apply modern information technologies in scientific activity, search and critical analysis of information to determine the role and objectives of the innovations protection. 3. To have basic skills in preparing drafts of legal documents, taking into account the peculiarities of the practical situation and with the help of legal methods to solve scientific problems that arise in the field of innovations protection.
Course content
The discipline "The Philosophy of Science and Innovation (Legal Module)" is a part of the candidates’ professional training cycle of the educational level "Doctor of Philosophy" in "Law" at the Education and Research Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The main components of the discipline are the formation of competencies aimed at demonstrating the ability to apply new knowledge in personal research and professional practice in the field of innovations protection; formulation of real hypotheses on the problems of the innovative activity development; the knowledge of the works of leading scientists in the field of research on the protection of innovation; qualified reflection of the results of the scientific research in scientific publications regarding the innovations protection.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The study of the discipline includes lectures, seminars; polls (express survey)/testing/essay (reference paper) on the proposed topic; module tests; self-study, individual assignments for "PhD" candidates; exam.
Assessment methods and criteria
Types of ongoing performance evaluation include: express survey, report, scientific paper, testing (multiple choice tests), case solving (tasks), module test (final test).
Things to be assessed in the process of ongoing performance evaluation are: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the student during seminars, the level of activity in discussing the issues of the seminar, systematic work in the classroom, self-study and individual assignments results. The discipline is taught for one term. 10 days before the beginning of the session, the teacher conducting the seminars no longer accepts missing assignments. For "PhD" candidates who have not achieved the minimum level of assessment, a final test is conducted.
