The tasks of studying the discipline are aimed at the acquisition by the student of the following competencies: to communicate freely on the issues of media law; generate new ideas and use modern technologies in providing legal services in the media sphere; to take a productive part in the development of draft regulations in the media sphere, to substantiate the social conditionality of their adoption, to predict the results of their impact on public relations in the media sphere.

External form

Prerequisites for mastering the discipline: 1. Know the main aspects of the formation and development of legal institutions; general principles of legal regulation of information relations, acts of information legislation. 2. Be able to assess and determine the role and objectives of information rights protection. 3. Have basic skills in drafting legal documents, taking into account the specifics of the practical situation and using legal methods to resolve disputes arising in the media.

The discipline "Media Law" is part of the cycle of professional training of educational qualification level "Master" in "Law", educational program "Intellectual Property", elective course "IT Law" at the Education and Research Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The main components of the discipline are the formation of competencies aimed at demonstrating knowledge of research approaches, basics of methodology and methods of researching the issues of media law; ability to assess and analyze legal issues and practical legal situations in the media sphere; ability to further study with a high level of autonomy.

The study of the discipline involves lectures and practical classes; express survey/testing/essay (abstract) on the proposed topic; module test; self-study in preparation for seminars; credit.

Types of ongoing performance evaluation can be: express survey, report, research work, multiple testing (from the set of judgments to choose the right ones), case solving (tasks), module test (final test). In the process of the ongoing performance evaluation at the seminars, the following is assessed: the level of knowledge demonstrated by a student in the answer, activity in discussing the issues of a seminar, systematic work in the classroom, the results of self-study. The discipline is taught in two semesters. 10 days before the beginning of the session, a teacher running the seminars no longer accepts missing assignments. For students who have not scored a minimum threshold level of assessment, a final test is run.
