Learning outcomes
The student is to know the theoretical foundations of health care, basic principles and types of medical care, features of medical care for different groups of population (women, children, the elderly), types of health care facilities, the content of the work of physicians of basic specialties. The student is to have conceptual knowledge acquired in the process of learning the basics of the most advanced level of health care, its achievements that are the foundations for original thinking and innovation, particularly in the context of the research. The student is to have practical skills and ability to search, process, and analyze the normative and analytical information about the field of health care from various sources, in particular through the use of information and communication technologies.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student is to know: the peculiarities of the interpretation of the concept of "health"; indicators of population health; the principles of organization of the health care system and the content of health care facilities; the main guidelines of domestic health care reform. The student is to be able to formulate definitions and problems of organization and activity of health care institutions, to interpret the peculiarities of medical care, to reveal the common and distinctive features of the organization of health care in different countries. The student is to have basic skills in searching for information materials, regulations, presentations, reports, statistical generalizations, comparison tables in relevant professional search information systems and on official websites.
Course content
The study discipline acquaints the students with: the task of health care; the method of analysis and evaluation of public health; the organization of medical care to various population groups and its sanitary and epidemiological support; areas of health care reform; analysis of health care facilities.

Lecture, seminar (report, presentation, participation in the discussion), self-study work (essay).
Assessment methods and criteria
Forms of mid-term assessment are to the discretion of an educator corresponding to the educational programme. The teacher, who is conducting seminars, gives a certain number of points earned through mid-term assessment and fixes it in academic progress register. If a student misses a lecture or a seminar for valid reason, they can make it up in free from classes time within the span of following 7 days during the teacher’s consulting hours. Making up of the class may include the participation in a discussion or fulfilment of any other task to the discretion of the teacher. The classes which were not made up are not assessed. It is not allowed to make up the missed classes at the end of the study term. The classes which were not made up are not graded.
