Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of competition law of the EU, gaining skills in dealing with EU legislation regulating competition, the ability to choose appropriate ways to protect the rights and interests of competitors operating in the EU, the ability to give legal assessment of specific situations in terms of competition law of the EU, including judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the basics of the EU law; main stages of formation of commercial legislation of the EU, basic principles of organization and performance of commercial activities in the EU; structure of EU legislation, basic principles of harmonization of the EU member states commercial legislation with the EU law, structure, jurisdiction, functions and procedure of court proceedings of the Court of Justice of the EU. Possess basic skills of independent studies and analysis of EU legislation and special literature.
Course content
The discipline deals with the specifics of legal regulation of competitive relations in the European Union; prohibition of anti-competitive behaviour and abuse of a dominant position within the internal market of the European Union; concentration control; principles of control, supervision and monitoring with assistance provided by Member States or through public resources; public procurement in the EU. The discipline forms interdisciplinary ties with other disciplines, such as the EU law, EU commercial law, comparative law, competition law of Ukraine, competition law of foreign countries. It develops the ability to draft conclusions on the issues of legal regulation of competition relations by the norms of the EU law, to qualify the actions of participants in competition from the standpoint of EU competition law.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Express questioning or colloquium, interim tests or questioning. Teaching methods include conversation, explanation, scientific discussion on topical issues of the course; problem-based teaching of certain issues of the course, the use of visual material in the form of presentations, the use of statistical methods for presenting material on cases decided by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine; review and analysis of webinars; practical methods - coordination of students’ actions in solving cases based on real case materials on violation of legislation on protection of economic competition, controlled simulation of students’ consultations and drafting documents on protection against unfair competition; discussion of complex legal issues of the course.
Assessment methods and criteria
Types of formative assessment are chosen by the teacher who conducts practical lessons in accordance with the course syllabus. The teacher who conducts the seminars enters the number of points scored during ongoing performance assessment into the relevant documents of student performance assessment. The final grade is the sum of the student’s points based on the results of the assessment during the semester and the grade for the credit (points obtained at the credit). The maximum final grade for the discipline can be 100 points. Students can achieve the maximum of 60 points at the credit.
