Tasks of studying the discipline are aimed at forming the following competencies: to formulate one’s own sound judgments based on the analysis of a known issue; independently determine the circumstances in which it is necessary to clarify, and act in accordance with the received recommendations; demonstrate the necessary knowledge and understanding of the nature and content of basic legal institutions and norms of fundamental branches of law.

Full-time form

Prerequisites for mastering the discipline: 1) knowledge of doctrinal understanding of the nature of intellectual property, definition of "intellectual property", "institutions of intellectual property", “intangible intellectual property rights", "intellectual property rights", "subject of intellectual property rights", "the ratio of public and private interests of law in intellectual property law"; 2) possession of skills of analysis of the provisions of international law in general and international intellectual property law in particular.

The discipline "International Protection of Intellectual Property" is part of the cycle of professional training of specialists at the educational level "Bachelor" in "Law" at the Education and Research Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The study of the discipline reveals the following issues on the principle of architecture: a) the development trends of international legal protection of intellectual property; b) principles of international legal protection of intellectual property through the prism of the balance of private and public interests; c) the legal nature of the sub-institutions of intellectual property law in various legal systems; d) the balance between Ukraine's international obligations and national interests in harmonizing national legislation with international intellectual property law; e) the formation of an understanding of characteristics of state sovereignty, which is provided by intellectual property mechanisms.

The study of the discipline involves lectures and practical classes; express survey/testing/essay (abstract) on the proposed topic; modular test work; self-study in preparation for seminars; credit.

Types of ongoing performance evaluation can include: express survey, report, scientific work, multiple testing (from the set of judgments to choose the right ones), case solving (tasks), module test (final test). Things to be assessed in the process of ongoing performance evaluation at the seminars are: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the student during seminars, the level of activity in discussing the issues of the seminar, regular work in the classroom, self-study and individual assignments results. The discipline is taught during one term. 10 days before the beginning of the session, the teacher who runs the seminars no longer accepts missing assignments. Students who have not scored the minimum threshold level of assessment are given a final test.
