Learning outcomes
1. Evaluate one's own educational and scientific professional activity, design and implement an effective strategy of self-development and professional self-improvement. 7. Analyze, compare and classify different directions and schools of classical and modern religious studies 8. Systematize the facts of the religious life of society, interpret religious events and phenomena based on an understanding of the specifics of the influence of religion on social processes. 12. Plan and carry out scientific research in the field of religious studies, choose effective research methods and tools, analyze the results, justify the conclusions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
2.1. Before starting this course, students should know the basic concepts of philosophy, ethics, aesthetics and cultural studies. Possess a philosophical categorical apparatus; have an idea of the main facts from the history of Christianity; to have an idea of the main features of dogmatics and the cult of Christianity, their historical evolution. 2.2. To be able to collect and interpret information about the phenomena and phenomena of the history of religion and culture, to have elementary skills of scientific research and information management, to use foreign language specialized sources on the history of religion. 2.3. Possess a philosophical categorical apparatus; scientific research and information management skills; critical attitude and forecasting regarding sociopolitical, cultural and religious events and phenomena; the use of foreign language professional cultural and religious informational sources.
Course content
The discipline "Iconology" acquaints students with the historical, aesthetic, and religious-philosophical aspects of understanding images that are inherently sacred. The scope of this discipline includes issues of the formation and development of iconography, the history of icon painting, clarification of the functions and significance of the image both in retrospect and in the modern world, the problem of the authorship of icons; identifying the essential difference of icon painting from all other types of religious art; the symbolism of icons and the disclosure of their deeper spiritual meaning; dogmatic essence of icons; canonical justifications for icon veneration; confessional differences in the understanding of icons; history of formation of iconographic rulers, their interpretation; analysis of the work of the most prominent icon painters; revealing the national originality of icon painting.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of mastering the material from all (two) parts of the academic discipline. The overall semester grade consists of the points obtained for 1) classroom work (oral presentations, additions and participation in discussions at seminars), 2) two independent works (compile an outline of the work; write an essay), 3) control work, taking into account the coefficient 0, 6. All types of work in the semester have as a result: - in the maximum dimension 100 points x 0.6 = 60 points - at least 60 points x 0.6 = 36 points Examination evaluation takes place in written form. The ticket consists of 2 questions, each of which is evaluated on a scale of 20 points, which gives a total of 40 points for the exam.
