PRP 3. Have the skills to apply subject knowledge of religious studies for the purpose of analyzing current social problems. PRP 6. Characterize the main stages of the history of world religions, features of the historical typology of religious ideas PRP 7. Collect, analyze, systematize and interpret facts related to the development of religions and denominations, use them to solve complex tasks in specialized areas of professional activity. PRP 9. Use information technologies to identify modern trends in the coexistence of religions and confessions in the conditions of globalization and intercultural dialogue.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before starting the course, students should know the main stages of the development of Christianity, the basics of Christian dogmatics and biblical studies; the history of Antiquity and the Middle Ages. 2. To be able to apply an interdisciplinary approach to the study of religious phenomena; to know the basics of religious methodology; to be able to work with scientific and theological literature and critically interpret it; collect and interpret sources relating to various phenomena of religious life; to analyze the essence, properties and other systemic characteristics of the phenomenon of religion. 3. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources; the ability to use information and communication technologies.
Course content
The discipline "Catholicism: history and modernity" belongs to the list of compulsory educational disciplines and is taught in the 5th semester of the bachelor's level of education. The educational discipline introduces students to the main features of Catholicism and reveals the historical stages of its development. They are analyzed causes and prerequisites of the schism of 1054, dogmatic and cult differences between Catholicism and Orthodoxy are determined, the development of Catholic theology is traced, the structure of the Catholic Church is revealed, and the historical development of Catholicism from 1054 to the present period is presented.

Assessment methods and criteria
Examination evaluation takes place in written form. The ticket consists of 2 questions, each of which is evaluated on a scale of 20 points, which gives a total of 40 points for the exam.
