Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, applicants must meet the general requirements for knowledge and skills that are required for studying in higher education institutions. Be able to collect and interpret information about religious and scientific phenomena; use information and communication technologies. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude and forecasting regarding religious events and phenomena.
Course content
The discipline "Religion and science: forms of modern dialogue" belongs to the list of disciplines of the student's free choice. It acquaints applicants with features the relationship between science and religion in different periods of human history and models of their interaction (which, as can be seen from the name of the discipline, ranged from complete rejection of each other to attempts at dialogue). Familiarity with the subject matter of this course will contribute to students' understanding of issues related to the history and present of the dialogue between science and religion. Studying the course involves clarifying from the point of view of religious studies the issues of the origin and evolution of the relationship between science and religion, problematic areas of their interaction.
