1. To have the skills of critical thinking, to present their own thoughts in a clear way, to make their arguments. 4.To know and understand theoretical approaches to definition of culture, its manifestations and forms of existence. 5.To collect, organize and analyze information on cultural phenomena, events, historical and cultural processes. 6.To identify, verify and summarize information on various contexts of cultural practice, to determine the degree of their relevance using different sources, information, communication tools and visual technologies. 8. To interpret cultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and certain methods, tо reasonably present conclusions regarding their content. 13. Present knowledge about culture in accordance with the specialization of representatives of various professional groups and applicants for education.

Full-time form

1. Prior to studying the course, students should know the history of early civilizations, antiquity and the Middle Ages, the history of European culture. 2. Be able to process and analyze mythological, cultural and historical texts, compare different cultural and civilizational types of development, mythological and historical texts; identify current trends in art and culture. 3. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management, critical attitude to historical, cultural and mythological texts, events and phenomena, use of foreign professional cultural and artistic sources.

Myth and mythology: the definition of a categorical apparatus. The essence of the myth. Mythological repertoire. Characteristic features of myth awareness. Phenomenology and dialectics of myth. Mythological anthropocentrism in the interpretation of the universe. Myth as a communicative system. Functions of myth. Mythology as historically the first type of social consciousness. Mythological consciousness of the era of the most ancient civilizations. Greco-Roman world: totality of myth. Reconstructions of Scandinavian, Germanic, Celtic mythological systems. Ancient Slavic mythology. The rite. Ritual. The concept of archetype. Myth as meta-artistic thinking. Mythological constructions and narratives in literature, drama, theatrical art. Mythologization as an instrument of modern culture: how myth is transformed and interpreted in cinema, serials, computer games. Transformation of myth in the practice of modern life. Oral presentation, additions and participation in discussions on - 21/35 points 2. Self-study (Synopsis/Summary of primary sources) - 5/10 points 3. Self-study ("Analysis of key mythological narratives and practices") - 10/15 points 4. Self-study ("Transformation of myth in the practice of modern culture"): - 12/20 points 5. Final control work in writing - 12/20 points The total number of points in the discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final control work. The test is based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures. Thus, the final assessment in the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for the semester work (minimum 48, maximum 80 points) and the final control work (minimum 12, maximum 20 points).
