Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before studying this course, students must have general information about the historical and cultural context of antiquity, a basic knowledge of the history of the ancient world, ancient Greek mythology and literature, the basics of normative grammar of the ancient Greek language. 2. Students must be able to identify and disclose interlingual and intercultural relationships; analyze the phenomena of linguistic and cultural interference; interpret ancient and modern European culture. 3. Students must possess skills of morpheme, morphological and syntactic analysis of foreign language units and skills of lexical-etymological and historical-cultural analysis and commenting on sentences and texts.
Course content
1. The role and importance of Latin in the European cultural continuum. 2. Phonetics system and rules of accentuation. 3. The name system and its grammatical categories. Nouns and adjectives of the I-V cases. The system of the pronoun. The system of numerals. 4. Grammatical categories of the verb, verbal form, verbal bases. Formation of tenses of the inflect system (present, imperfect, futurum). Formation of the tenses of the perfect system (perfect, pluperfect, futurum II). 5. Basic information on Latin syntax (simple sentence, case syntax, independent constructions, hypotaxis system). 6. Vocabulary of the Latin language. Latin terms in European culture.

Assessment methods and criteria
Answer (oral answer, addition, participation in the discussion) in the practical class: 20 / 30 points Independent work (summary of translated sentences): 15 / 20 points Creative task (abstracts, presentations; including independent preparation): 10 / 30 points Final control work: 15 / 20 points Final assessment in the form of a test: the final number of points in the discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final test. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures.
