Course content
The discipline "Logic" introduces students to the basics of logical knowledge and the history of the development of logic. The subject is defined, the method of logic is revealed. Special attention is paid to the consideration of basic logical laws (the law of identity, the law of contradiction, the law of the excluded third, and the law of sufficient grounds). Forms of thinking (concepts, judgments, inferences) are thoroughly studied. Logical relations between concepts and logical operations on concepts are analyzed. The types and structure of judgments, the specifics of the method of truth tables and the method of analytical tables are considered. Deductive inferences are considered in detail (correct and incorrect schemes are given). The basics of the theory of argumentation are explained. The concepts of direct and indirect argumentation, specifics of refutation, and types of refutation are clarified. Typical errors that occur when the rules of proof or refutation are violated are revealed.
