Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes are specified in the work program of the discipline. The main ones are: PRN 2. Confidently possess state and foreign languages ​​for the implementation of written and oral communication, in particular in situations of professional and scientific communication; present research results in national and foreign languages. PRN 3. Apply modern methods and technologies, in particular information technology, for successful and effective implementation of professional activities and ensuring the quality of research in a specific philological field. PRN 6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, logical means of language and speech technique to achieve the planned pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PRN 9. Characterize the theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen philological specialization. PRN 14. Create, analyze and edit texts of various styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the basic terms and concepts of translation studies, possession of basic knowledge of the language. Ability to collect and interpret information about language phenomena; distinguish original and universal (cross-cultural) features of the original language and the translated language, apply basic concepts in the analysis of linguistic phenomena and processes; plan and evaluate own work; use interactive and multimedia tools. Possession of elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena; use of foreign language professional informative sources; work with texts; production of complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in learning in exploratory situations.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to provide students with systematic knowledge about the current problems of modern translation studies and the main directions of activity of modern translation schools. To improve students' professional competences and their practical skills in translating text from the original language into the target language, to understand logical semantic blocks and adequately transform them into semantic blocks of the translation language.
