Learning outcomes
PLO 7. Analyze, compare and classify different directions and schools in linguistics. PLO 9. Characterize the theoretical foundations (categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of chosen philological specialization. PLO 10. Systematize linguistic, literary, folklore facts, interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on chosen specialization). PLO 13. Explain the essence of specific philological issues, author's point of view on them and its justification both to specialists and to the general public, in particular to students. PLO 28.2. Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) know the basics of media communication and the legal basis of mass media in Ukraine; 2) to be able to carry out a professional analysis of a media text from the point of view of modern methods of linguistic analysis of texts of various types of communication; 3) have elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude to the analyzed linguistic phenomena; working with multimedia texts and electronic sources; production of complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in exploratory situations.
Course content
The discipline systematizes students' knowledge of genres and texts in the style of mass information and their comprehensive expert analysis. A functional diagnosis of the concept of linguistic expertise of various types of communication is carried out with an emphasis on mass media, the types of linguistic expertise are considered in detail, its methods and tasks are determined. Special attention is paid to the rights, duties, limits of competence and strategies of the expert linguist's work with various types of media texts - printed and electronic.

Assessment methods and criteria
The credit is based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. The students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material in the form of writing control works, essays, or, if necessary, write a final test. It is mandatory for the student to write a linguistic expertise of the media text, which is completed no later than the last week of lectures.
