Learning outcomes
PLO2. Confidently speak the state and foreign languages for the implementation of written and oral communication, in particular in situations of professional and scientific communication; PLO5: Find the best ways of effective interaction in a professional team and with representatives of other professional groups of different levels. PLO11. Carry out scientific analysis of language, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data. PLO14. Create, analyze and edit texts of different styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the program material on the topics covered by the curriculum, namely: communication theory (rhetorical communication strategies, genres and registers of speech), English language theory (prosody, lexicology and lexical semantics, semiotics, idiomatics, morphology and syntax, functional styles, stylistic and socio-cultural features of the language, national and territorial dialects). 2. Skills: to produce and competently organize own English-language discourse on topics defined by the program, to conduct a dialogue, discussion, debate; to analyze, compare, contrast linguistic phenomena; to analyze and comment on original English scientific, professional and socio-political texts;
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to train qualified specialists-philologists, teachers and translators-reference persons with an appropriate level of theoretical knowledge and consolidated practical skills to work in educational and business institutions, and to continue their postgraduate studies. Summary of the subject: The discipline "Communication Strategies and Translation" is designed for undergraduate students of universities, institutes/faculties of foreign languages who study English as a second language. The course includes 4 thematic modules: "Language and speech", "Communication in the human society", "Oral and written communication", "Translation as a form of communicative activity", dedicated to the study of theoretical and practical aspects of communication in English, taking into account its ethnic and socio-cultural characteristics, as well as ways of translating and editing messages/texts.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical classes: discussion, reports, argumentation of one's own position/point of view, discussion. independent work, quiz, oral questioning.
Assessment methods and criteria
- Completion of homework (12 tasks for 2 points - max. 24) - Work during practical classes (seminars) (16 classes for 1 point - max. 16) - MTW (2 for 5 points - max. 10) - Presentation of a scientific report (1 presentation - max. 5) - Implementation of a training project (1 project - max. 5) - Exam ( max. 40) Ratio: 60:100=0,60 A student can get up to 5 points for each module test. CMC 1 contains a test part on theoretical aspects of English language and communication (10 questions - 0.25 points each) and a fragment of text/message for lexical, syntactic and stylistic analysis (10 control points - 0.25 points each). MCQ 2 contains a test section on theoretical aspects of communication and translation (10 questions - 0.25 marks each) and a fragment of a text/message for genre and rhetorical analysis and translation with editing elements (10 checkpoints - 0.25 marks each).
