PLO 7. Analyze, compare and classify different areas and schools of linguistics. PLO 8. Evaluate historical achievements and the latest achievements of literary studies. PLO 9. Characterize theoretical principles (concepts). PLO 10. Collect and systematize linguistic and literary facts, interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres in the field of Japanese philology. PLO 11. Carry out scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data. PLO 15. Choose the best research approaches and methods for analyzing specific linguistic or literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) possession of basic skills of analytical, search and research work; 2) successful mastery of the disciplines "Oral and Ancient Oriental Literature (in the language of study)", "Medieval Oriental Literature (in the language of study)" and/or "Literature of Japan of the XIX century" during the course of study at the bachelor's degree program; 3) fluency in Japanese and skills in working with original texts.
Course content
Discipline VB 2.03 "Literary Analysis of Japanese Literary Text", included in the elective block "Japanese Studies", is taught in the third semester and consists of 4 credits, 120 hours (20 lectures, 20 seminars and 80 hours of independent work). The form of final control is an exam. The course is designed to provide students with knowledge about the peculiarities of Japanese literature and its artistic diversity, to teach them methods of literary analysis of texts in the original language, concepts and methodology of hermeneutics, narratology, feminist criticism, receptive aesthetics and criticism to work on a project, publication or research in the field of Japanese literature.
