Learning outcomes
PLO 3. Apply modern methods and technologies, including information technologies, for successful and effective implementation of professional activities and ensuring the quality of research in the field of Japanese philology. PLO 7. Analyze, compare and classify different areas and schools of linguistics. PLO 8. Evaluate historical achievements and the latest achievements of literary studies. PLO 9. Characterize theoretical principles (concepts). PLO 10. Collect and systematize linguistic and literary facts, interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres in the field of Japanese philology. PLO 11. Carry out scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data. PLO 17. Plan, organize, implement and present research and/or innovative developments in the field of Japanese philology.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) basic skills in analytical, retrieval and research work; 2) fluency in Japanese and Ukrainian; 3) successful mastery of disciplines OK.01 "Methodology and organization of scientific research with the basics of intellectual property", OK.06 "Japanese for professional communication" and OK.07 "Modern Japanese literature" according to the program "Oriental Philology, Western European Language and Translation: Japanese Language and Literature".
Course content
The discipline VB 2.01 " Topical Issues of Japanese Philology" from the elective block "Japanese Studies" is taught in the third semester and consists of 3 credits, 90 hours (14 lectures, 16 seminars and 60 hours of independent work). The form of final control is a test. The course is designed to develop students' skills and competencies necessary for the future profession of a philologist and junior researcher in the field of Japanese studies. The course focuses on the knowledge of phonetic, lexical, grammatical, syntactic and stylistic features of the modern Japanese language, traditional literary methodology acquired during the bachelor's degree, and also introduces students to modern developments and current issues in the field of Japanese linguistics and literary studies, intercultural communication.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Blitz survey: 2 points - the student (S) has a full knowledge of the educational material, answers the questions quickly and correctly; 1 point - S does not demonstrate the depth of knowledge; 0 points - S cannot answer the question. 2. Oral response, participation in discussions at lectures and seminars: 15 points - S has full knowledge of the educational material, freely and reasonably presents it 14-8 points - S has a sufficient knowledge of the educational material, presents it freely, minor inaccuracies are allowed; 7 points - S has a general knowledge of the educational material, but does not demonstrate the depth of knowledge 6-1 points - S does not fully master the material, has significant errors in the answer 3. Modular control work: Test part - 15 points Open questions - 5 points 4. Final assessment The final assessment is conducted in the form of a pass/fail credit
