Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. A “pass” in Practical course of English, Stylistics of English, Theoretical grammar of English, Lexicology of English, Discourse studies. 2. Knowledge of General Linguistics as well as of semantic, structural and pragmatic features of English language units; 3. Ability to apply methods of traditional linguistic analysis to language units and ability to discuss linguistic problems in English
Course content
The course is aimed at introducing students to the fundamentals of the communication theory. The course consists of two parts: the first focuses on the main terms of the communication theory, the second explores interpersonal and corporate interactions. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to analyse texts of various types and from various communicative fields. The course enhances to the students’ communicative skills and, thus, prepares them to work in different communicative situations.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is delivered with the help of such activities as oral reports and written tests. The teaching methods are lectures, practical classes (seminars), creative and research projects, students’ individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The course ends with an exam. Students’ performance during the term is the sum of the points accumulated for their work in classroom (oral reports, tests) and individual work (research and creative projects). The minimum score for the term is 36 points, while the maximum score equals 60. The minimum score for the exam is 24 and the maximum score is 40.
