Prerequisites and co-requisites
The normative educational discipline "Practical course of the third language (Spanish)" is a component of the cycle of professional training of specialists of the "master's" educational qualification level. This is a mandatory initial discipline for students majoring in English Communication Studies and Translation and Two Western European Languages. Before starting this course, students should know the basic provisions of general linguistics and the place of the Spanish language among the Romance languages, its multinational character in the globalized world, and have basic factual knowledge of a linguistic nature. Be able to work with didactic and audio-visual materials, independently process language material; plan and evaluate own work; use interactive and multimedia tools.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is aimed at acquiring practical knowledge of the third language as a new subject that was not studied during undergraduate studies; on the formation of coordinative bilingualism in students through the understanding of the relationship between grammatical structures, phonetic-phonological, lexical-phraseological and stylistic potentials of the native, English and Spanish languages, as well as on the formation of skills regarding grammatical features, stylistic marking of language units in the language system, understanding and explanation linguistic and non-linguistic phenomena of the Spanish language. The course introduces students to the structure and system of the modern Spanish language, the laws of its functioning as a means of communication, based on basic knowledge of the first and second languages, their history, as well as their lexical and grammatical systems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Application of the postulates of constructive and communicative methods of teaching foreign languages ​​through the wide use of modern multimedia tools. The following educational forms of checking the learned material are carried out: oral answer, blitz survey, written tests, modular control works, writing annotations of the listened or reviewed Spanish-language material.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment (1st semester - credit): • the maximum number of points during the semester is 80 points; • exercises performed in the process of independent work, creative works: LO 2.1–2.3, 4.1 – 20 points; • intermediate control – written tests of four aspects of language competence: LO 1.1-1.4, 2.1 - 2.3, 4.1 – 30 points; • answer in practical classes: LO 1.1–1.4; 2.1–2.3; 3.1; 4.1 – 30 points (estimated depending on the completeness of disclosure); final evaluation in the form of credit: the maximum number of points for the assessment is 20 points, the assessment is carried out in the form of a written test.
