Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To implement modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform a successful and influential professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in an applied linguistics field.
PLO 6. To use knowledge of expressive, emotional, logical means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize a successful communication.
PLO 9. To characterize theoretical (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) principles and practical aspects of modern Linguistics.
PLO 11. To perform a scholarly analysis of linguistic, speech, and literary material, interpret and structure it considering expedient methodological principles, and formulate summarizations based on the individually processed data.
PLO 15. To choose the optimal research approaches and analysis methods for the specific linguistic and literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know a sentence's main syntagmatic and paradigmatic features at the formal grammatical level of division, have basic factual knowledge of linguistic theory.
To be able to analyze syntactic units according to the principles of the formal and grammatical aspect (syntactic analysis of a phrase, a simple sentence, a complex sentence). To differentiate elementary / non-elementary syntactic structures. To model sentences (structural diagrams of a simple and complex sentence). To have elementary skills in research work: search, process, and analyze information from various sources. To show independence in solving problematic issues of linguistic pragmatics of language communication. To be able to use the means of scientific style to produce oral and written messages.
Course content
The course Communicative and semantic syntax – Part 1 of a complex discipline Linguopragmatics of language communication is aimed at studying the conceptual foundations of semantic and syntactic (Content Part 1) and communicative (Content Part 2) grammar, which enables a multidimensional linguistic characterization of sentence and text fragments of coherent speech; allows to combine differential and integrative approaches in the syntactic analysis of textual material; to model sentence structures, correlating them with typical extralinguistic situations (semantic syntax); to contextually vary textual units (communicative syntax); to optimize linguistic methods and techniques in the study of multidimensional ontological features of communicative units.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
As a research component of the “Applied Linguistics (Translation, Editing, and Expert Linguistic Analysis)” educational program the course involves methods and technologies of seminars that contribute to the development and improvement of master's students' research skills.
Types of educational activities: lecture, seminar, independent learning.
Assessment methods and criteria
The total grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of mastering the material from the entire course. The grade consists of the points obtained for classroom work which includes independent work on processing theoretical material and linguistic analysis of speech material: oral answers, supplementary (participation in a discussion), tests, and a presentation). In case of absence from the seminar, the student must work the seminar assignment off. Assessment of work:
1. Oral answers, additions, participation in discussions at lectures and seminars, tests: - 45/70 points.
2. Presentation: - 15/30 points (20 points for preparation + 10 points for presentation).
Final assessment: credit.
