Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages.
PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.
PLO 20. To undertake pre-translation analysis of specialized texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 24.1. To apply appropriate strategies and tactics in the process of translating and editing medical, legal, academic and newspaper style texts.
PLO 25.1. To apply written translation techniques from Ukrainian into English and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who have studied Spanish as a second language during their bachelor's degree. The student must successfully master the following academic disciplines: "Second language and translation", "Technique of second foreign language translation". The student should know: basic translation studies concepts; principles of language material analysis; phonetic, morphological, syntactic, lexical features of genre styles of the Spanish and Ukrainian languages; peculiarities of the creation and use of terms of different terminological systems of Spanish and Ukrainian. The student should be able to: apply linguistic tools in practice. In addition, the student must possess the following skills: written translation from Spanish into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into Spanish; consecutive oral translation and translation from a sheet from Spanish into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into Spanish.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills of translating specialized texts from Spanish into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into Spanish. Students are offered specialized texts in various fields, as well as exercises that require significant and careful independent work of students to search for certain terms and expressions in various dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks and other sources on the specified subject. The educational discipline is taught in two semesters, aimed at mastering the main morphosyntactic, lexical and stylistic features of texts specialized in various fields. It aims to acquaint students with various types of written and oral specialized texts and methods of their adequate and equivalent translation. The academic discipline continues the development of terminological language tools, the study of specialized terminology, and allows you to develop and improve skills for a professional translator working in a highly specialized field. This course includes practical exercises. The discipline ends with a credit.

• summary translation;
• defense of glossary.

Final evaluation – credit.

• tasks that are performed during independent work: LO 1.1-1.3,2.1-2.5,3.1-3.3,4 max. – 14 points;
Compilation and defence of the glossary, max. - 14 points.
Translations: LO1.1-1.3,2.1-2.5,3.1-3.3,4
• summary translation max. 12 points;
• written translation max. 30 points, oral translation max. 30 points.
