Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles. PLO 24.1. To apply appropriate strategies and tactics in the process of translating and editing medical, legal, academic and newspaper style texts. PLO 25.1. To apply written translation techniques from Ukrainian into English and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possess the lexical and grammatical minimum in German and Ukrainian languages within the scope of the topics provided by the programs for the 1st-4th courses of the bachelor's degree in the specialty "Translation" and the program of the discipline " Techniques of specialized translation" provided by the educational program for the 1st and 2nd semesters. Possess the basic concepts of the category-conceptual apparatus of translation studies; have a developed speech culture, general erudition, general ideas about grammatical and stylistic norms of the source and target languages.
Course content
A practical discipline that involves studying the peculiarities of written and oral translation of specialized texts; mastering the technical principles of written translation; formation of skills and abilities of pre-translation investigation; acquisition of the translator's terminological competence; acquisition of practical skills of compiling glossaries in translation software; mastering translation editing algorithms; ensuring the replenishment of terminology systems of the relevant industries. The goal of the course is the active and purposeful development of language knowledge and speaking skills by students in the field of specialized translation from a second foreign (German) language; to develop the skills of written and oral translation of texts in the field of jurisprudence, ecology, medicine, technology, construction and mechanical engineering in the direction of B-A translation, mastering the technical competencies of a written translator.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: • tasks performed during independent work (project specialized translations, work with translation programs, compiling term bases); • intermediate control written translation; • answers in practical classes • analytical report.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: The maximum number of points during the semester – 100 points: 1) Performance of projected specialized translations: LO 1.1; LO 1.2. LO 2.1; LO 2.2; LO 2.3; LO 2.4, LO 2.5 LO 4 – 40 points. 2) Compiling glossaries / term bases: LO 1.1., LO 2.2., LO 2.4 – 10 points. 3) Analytical report: LO 1.2, LO 2.1. LO 3 – 10 points. 4) Intermediate control written translation: LO2.1, LO 2.2, LO 2.3, LO 2.4, LO 2.5, LO 4 – 20 points 5) Final control test: 1) control specialized translation (10 points); 2) post-translation commentary, justification of translation decisions (10 points).
