Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Confidently speak the state and foreign languages to demonstrate written and oral communication skills, in particular in situations of professional and scientific communication; present the results of research in state and foreign languages.
PLO 5. Find the best ways to effectively interact in a professional team and with representatives of other professional groups of different levels.
PLO 21. Know the specifics of translation work in different environments (text, media, audiovisual, web space) and be able to use the necessary tools and techniques.
PLO 23. Be able to plan the process of interpreting and written translation in accordance with the stages of the translation project.
PLO 24.2. Apply the principles of two-way interpreting, note-taking technique and translation technique in English.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the courses "Introduction to Translation Studies", "Practical Course of English", "Comparative Grammar", "Fundamentals of Translation from Native Language", "Translation Practice";
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, the main categories of translation studies, key principles of written and oral translation, specific lexical, stylistic and grammatical characteristics of working languages; Proficiency in the state language (not lower than C2) and English (not lower than C1), basic skills in using innovative technologies in the process of translation activities, skills of rapid analysis, synthesis and reproduction of information both in the sourse language and the target language.
Course content
The discipline aims to form and develop the key competencies of the interpreter necessary for the performance of professional activities in the field of interlingual mediation; in the conditions of modern educational environment, the program provides preparation of students for carrying out professional translation activities; teaches the specifics of the approach to the reproduction of texts of various functional styles; with the help of mnemonic techniques, it trains the ability to concentrate on large segments of textual information and its most complete reproduction in translation; develops the ability to apply the method of interpreter’s note-taking (the use of special characters and abbreviations to fix the key information of the message).
The practical course develops the competence to choose the most optimal translation tactics for reproducing textual information, taking into account linguistic and extralinguistic factors.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training activities during the semester:
• practical classes on consecutive interpretation;
• tasks that are performed in the process of independent work;
• lexical tests;
• translation projects.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment:
During the practical classes, the following are subject to current assessment: interpretations, written assignments, individual and group projects.
The following learning outcomes are evaluated: PLO 1.3, PLO 1.4, PLO 2.2; PLO 2.4; PLO 2.5; PLO 4.1. After studying the relevant topics, blitz vocabulary quizes and written tests are conducted to determine the level of students' mastering of educational material. The maximum number of points during the semester is 100 points,
During the final test, the following learning outcomes are evaluated: PLO 1.2, PLO 1.3, PLO 1.4; PLO 2.1 – 2.6; PLO 4.1.
The final test consists of three tasks, a student can score a maximum of 25 points. The first task is interpretation (the maximum possible score is 7), written assignment (11 points) comes second and the third task is the preparation of semester target vocabulary (7 points).
