Learning outcomes
PLO 9. To describe theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic notions, etc.) and applied aspects of the Arabic philology. PLO 13. To explain the essential concepts of specific philological issues, personal point of view and its substantiation both to the specialists and general public, students in particular, in a comprehensible and reasoned form. PLO 16. To use specialised conceptual knowledge within the Arabic philology to solve complex problems, which requires the updating and integration of knowledge, frequently due to the incomplete / insufficient information on the issue and conflicting requirements. PLO 17. To plan, organise, carry out and present research results and / or innovative achievements in the field of the Arabic philology. PLO 18. To present research results to the scientific community in scientific publications or during conference presentations, round tables, seminars, etc.

Successful mastering of the following courses: “Arabic: Functional level”, “Introduction to the Arabic Philology”, “ Lingual country studies of the Arab world”, “Theory and Methodology of Translation (Arabic)”
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the specifics of Arabic communication in the academic field; improving students' knowledge of Arabic scientific speech, skills in translation and writing academic texts, learning appropriate vocabulary and grammatical constructions.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise lectures and practical classes. Self-study of students involves preparation for oral responses, reports with analysis of scientific literature, fulfilment of written exercises, research presentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written tasks, translation exercises - 36/60 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points, final test paper - 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 - failed.
