Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages.
PLO 10. To collect and systematise linguistic, literary and folklore facts, to interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres (depending on the specialisation elected).
PLO 14. To create, analyse and edit texts of different styles and genres.
PLO 21. To apply the knowledge and skills necessary to provide faithful bilateral Arabic - Ukrainian translation and interpretation in various sectors of economy and human life.

Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the specifics and features of oral consecutive and simultaneous translation of conferences, with the basics of training simultaneous translators for Arabic-Ukrainian two-way translation of international conferences of various topics, business forums; to teach the basics of the theory and technique of oral consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, to form the relevant skills.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training takes place in the form of interactive lectures and practical classes, which involve the active work of students on oral translation in the classroom, self-study work. Completion of homework and translation exercises is mandatory. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of an oral survey and the organization of written tasks, lexical dictations, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral answers, written tasks, lexical dictations, translation exercises - 24/40 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points. Final evaluation in the form of exam: max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, the examinational task consists of two questions, viz. 1) translation of an unfamiliar text from Arabic into Ukrainian; 2) translation of an unfamiliar text from Ukrainian to Arabic. Students who in total scored less than 36 points during the semester are not allowed to pass the exam.
