Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To apply modern methods and technologies, including information technologies, for the successful and effective professional activities and ensuring the quality of research in the field of Spanish linguistics and translation.
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels.
PLO 7. Analyse, compare and classify different areas and scientific schools in linguistics.
PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization).
PLO 16. To use specialised conceptual knowledge in the field of Spanish linguistics and translation to solve complex problems and problems that require updating and integrating knowledge, often in the face of incomplete/insufficient information and conflicting requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know the basic conceptual apparatus of modern linguistic and cultural studies, intercultural communication and translation studies, using the main provisions of linguistic cognitive science, linguopragmatics, communicative linguistics, to know the types of communication strategies and tactics in their application in various social practices of Spanish linguistic culture; know the main translation strategies and tactics in various spheres of communication, the main problems of modern translation studies and translation studies concepts in diachronic and synchronic aspects in various foreign and domestic traditions based on the Spanish language.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to consolidate the acquired theoretical knowledge of theoretical grammar, introduction to translation studies, lexicology, stylistics, linguistic studies, text linguistics, neorhetoric, translation theory and practice and to supplement it with the basic theoretical principles of linguistic and cultural studies, intercultural communication, communicative linguistics, cognitive linguistics, linguistic pragmatics and translation studies from Spanish. The subject of the discipline is the linguistic and cultural aspect of the functioning of the Spanish language, which determines the linguistic and pragmatic organisation of the utterance and should be reflected in translation. Particular attention is paid to the differences in the selection of linguistic means for building communicative strategies and tactics that affect the content of the discourse.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course has 2 content parts. The first part of the course is devoted to the cognitive foundations of modern linguistic and cultural studies, the national and cultural peculiarity of nominal units, and the gender paradigm in linguistic and cultural studies. The second part of the course focuses on the study of verbal and non-verbal expression of the national characteristics of the Spaniards and the problems of intercultural communication and translation. Classes are held in the form of lectures, practical classes and interactive teaching methods.
During the semester, lectures are followed by practical classes on relevant topics. Students submit and defend their presentations at the end of the last lecture week.
