PLO 3. To apply modern methods and technologies, including information technologies, for the successful and effective professional activities and ensuring the quality of research in the field of Spanish linguistics and translation. PLO 16. To use specialised conceptual knowledge in the field of Spanish linguistics and translation to solve complex problems and problems that require updating and integrating knowledge, often in the face of incomplete/insufficient information and conflicting requirements. PLO 17. To plan, organize, perform and present research and / or innovative developments in a specific linguistic field.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of practical and theoretical courses in Communicative Practices (Spanish), Contrastive Linguistics and Translation Studies (Spanish and Ukrainian) within three semesters of study.
Course content
The Modern Spanish Language Contacts and Translation option studies the Spanish language as a means of international communication in different fields, its role in the modern globalised world, the socio-communicative and linguistic-cultural aspects of its functioning, with the aim of applying the acquired competences to adequate translation. It provides knowledge about modern Spanish studies, the origin of Iberophony (Hispanophony), its spread in the world, Spanish-speaking contacts, the interaction of socio-territorial dialects, the social and geographical mobility of the population. It develops the ability to analyse and identify the language and linguistic personality of the interlocutor, taking into account the peculiarities of the ethnic and cultural background, which have a direct impact on the quality of the translation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is divided into 2 parts. The first part of the course is devoted to the definition of the concepts of "Iberophony" and "Hispanophony", diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Spain, between Ukraine and Latin America, and Spanish language policy in the world. The second part of the course focuses on the role of the Spanish language in European institutions, in informal organisations and in the spread of the Spanish language in the world. Teaching takes the form of lectures, practical classes and interactive teaching methods. During the semester, lectures are followed by practical classes on relevant topics.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out in accordance with the ECTS system, which provides for a two-stage assessment of the material studied, in particular the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.3), which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.5; (communication 3.1-3.3); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.5), which accounts for 60% of the total grade. The final semester grade is made up of the points obtained by the student in the course of the specified types and forms of training and in the examination. The maximum distribution is based on the following algorithm 60 points (60%) - semester examination and 40 points (40%) - exam.
