Learning outcomes
PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically vital social, individual and professional
issues and offer tactics for their resolution, in difficult and unpredictable
conditions, which require the application of new approaches and forecasting.
PLO 20. To undertake pre-translation analysis of specialized texts of various styles
and genres.
PLO 23. To be able to plan the process of specialized interpreting and translation
in accordance to the stages of a translation project.
PLO 24.1. To apply appropriate strategies and tactics in the process of translating
and editing medical, legal, academic and newspaper style texts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully master the discipline, students must know Spanish and Ukrainian
language at a level not lower than B2, be able to perform non-specialized paragraph-phrase
consecutive translation from Spanish into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into
Spanish, know and be able to use the most common translation techniques and
methods for solving translation difficulties and achieving equivalence, to be able to
keep a thematic glossary and memorize cross-language equivalents, potentially
useful in interpreting situations.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to teach the basics of the technique of consecutive translation of social
political and specialized texts from Spanish to Ukrainian and viceversa
taking into account the communicative, stylistic and cognitive features of different people
types of sequential translation, as well as teaching translation cursive for
translation of relatively long speech fragments.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical classes and independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation criteria: Intermediate control: oral answer - max. 30 points, supplement - max. 12 points, participation in discussions - max. 30 points, preparation of presentations - max. 14 points. Protection of presentations - max. 14 points. The first semester ends with an intermediate control, the maximum number of points is 100, 30% are transferred to the second semester and are taken into account in the formation of the semester grade. The maximum number of points in the second semester is 60. The minimum is 36. The course ends with an exam - 24/40.
