Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian, Portuguese and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to ensure effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of Portuguese and English, to describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques necessary to produce oral and written texts of different genres and styles in Ukrainian, Portuguese and English. PLO 14. Use the Portuguese and English languages orally and in writing, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 27.1 Have language proficiency in modern variants and registers of the Portuguese and English languages.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in Portuguese at the B1+/B2 level; understanding of bilingual and bicultural competence of a translator and the cross-cultural nature of translation as a form of interlingual mediation.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to form the linguistic and cultural competencies of future philologists-translators from Portuguese at the advanced stage of study. It involves the development of skills and abilities to use the Portuguese language in various situations of intercultural communication; it is designed to provide an appropriate level of linguistic and cultural knowledge as a basis for interlanguage mediation. The discipline belongs to the elective components of the block "Translation in Intercultural Communication" of the educational and professional program. It has a specialized character and is a multi-semester course. The form of control in the 5th semester is a credit test. The language of instruction is Portuguese .

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Individual work and work in practical classes: completion of oral and written homework, preparation of assignments for extracurricular (individual) reading, search and presentation of information on topics defined in the program, creative tasks (essay or summary), listening.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the 5th semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control described in clause 7.1 of the programe of the discipline. The grade is based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who have scored a positive number of points from 60 to 100 receive "passed". Students who do not score the minimum positive number of points - from 0 to 59 - receive a "fail" grade. During the 6th semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control described in clause 7.1 of the discipline program. The semester assessment forms the mid-course control score, 20% of which is included in the final score for the 7th semester.
