Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 7. Understand the major issues of philology and approaches to solving those using relevant methods and innovative approaches. PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 17. Collect, analyse, systematize and interpret language and speech facts and use them to solve complex problems and problems in specialized fields of professional activity and/or study. PLO 20. Outline the main problems of translation disciplines, explain their interrelationship in a holistic system of knowledge.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the grammatical systems of Spanish and Ukrainian, and professional terminology. 2. Be able to conduct grammatical analysis of sentences and texts in Spanish and Ukrainian. 3. Possess basic skills in comparing morphological and syntactic units of Spanish and Ukrainian.
Course content
The course is one of the mandatory courses and is one of the key disciplines in the translation studies program. The purpose of lectures in the discipline, delivered in Spanish, is to familiarize students with the theoretical and methodological foundations of comparative analysis of the grammatical systems of the Spanish and Ukrainian languages. The purpose of the practical classes is to consolidate the material presented in the lectures, to develop students' skills and abilities in theoretical and practical comparative analysis of morphological and syntactic units of the Spanish and Ukrainian languages. The course ends with an exam. The languages of instruction, learning, and assessment are Spanish and Ukrainian.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in clause 7.1. of the Program of the discipline. Students who have scored a total of less than the critical-calculation min. of 36 points during the semester are not allowed to take the exam. In order to be admitted to the exam, such students must complete 50% of the practical tasks and make a synopsis of 50% of the primary sources allocated for independent study. The max. mark for additional forms of assessment may not exceed 40% of the max. total mark for the semester - 24 points. The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student during the semester and the points obtained at the exam: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam. The exam consists of 2 tasks: 1) a theoretical question on comparative grammar (min. 15 - max. 25 points); 2) a practical task on comparative grammar (min. 9 - max. 15 points).
