PLO 15 Carry out linguistic and literary analysis of the texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16 Know and understand the basic concepts and theories of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activity. PLO 19 Have the skills to participate in theoretical and/or applied studies in the field of philology. PLO 23.1 Interpret works of art according to their genre, poetic and stylistic features.

The student must: successfully master the basics of the introduction to literary studies, the history of Ukrainian and foreign literature. A necessary condition for access to the discipline "Fundamentals of narratology" is the following student competencies: 1. To know: the specifics of narratology as a field of modern literary studies; basic concepts of narratology; basic narratological concepts; basics of narratological analysis. 2. Be able to: analyze the literary narratives of the epic; to master the principles and techniques of narrative-discursive study of literature; find out the features of the narrative structure of artistic texts of various epic genres; to explain the patterns of evolution and transformation of literary narratives. 3. Possess elementary skills: analysis of artistic text; apply the acquired knowledge in practice (while writing essays, modular tests).

The goal of the discipline is to learn the basic principles of narratology, the specifics of narrative discourse in epic works, the terminological apparatus of this discipline, the principles and techniques of narratological analysis. Its study involves understanding narratology as a field of literary studies in the context of the scientific paradigms of structuralism and poststructuralism, clarifying the subject, goal, tasks and methodological foundations of narratology, comparing narratology and traditional narrative theory, mastering the basic concepts of this discipline (history, narrative/narration, discourse, focalization, types of narrators). The theoretical aspect is subordinated to the practical task - the narratological analysis of epic texts of various genres and different artistic and stylistic paradigms.

Educational activities - modular test papers (maximum score 24, minimum - 17 points), oral answers, additions. Teaching methods – lectures, seminars (maximum score 4, minimum – 2 points), independent work.

During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in clause 7.1. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive "enrolled". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "not enrolled". Students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, by writing independent papers, essays or, if necessary, a control paper.
