PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian and English. PLO 20. Translate English written and oral texts into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into English. PLO 22. Ability to edit and correct texts of various styles and genres in Ukrainian and English.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the following courses: Introduction to Linguistics, Introduction to Translation Studies, Practical Course of the English Language (Semesters 1 & 2), Linguistic Country Studies of English Speaking Countries; Knowledge of theoretical basics of general linguistics, basic categories of translation studies and basics of translation and interpreting; Knowledge of the state language (not lower than C2 level) and the English language (not lower than B2 level), basic skills in using innovative technologies in the process of translation activity.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is developing basic knowledge and skills necessary for adequate interpreting in view of lexical and grammatical differences between languages, practical skills in adequate interpreting in business communication with its language and stylistic specificities. Together with other main and elective disciplines of the educational program the course is oriented to training and developing fundamental competences of a translator necessary for carrying out professional translational activity in the work with oral texts in the sphere of business linguistics, preparing students to work as translators with business texts, their main sub-styles and genres, teaching students to conduct translational activity on a professional level in the English-Ukrainian language pair.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods of the course include: Training interpreting and translation skills within the English-Ukrainian language pair in business communication; Carrying out linguistic and transformational analysis of the source and target texts; Compiling and learning business glossaries; Teaching students to summarize Ukrainian business texts in English; Involving students into individual and group translation projects; Writing tests.
Assessment methods and criteria
In the semesters 5 & 7 students have the interim control. The overall mark is based on the points a student has got during classes. To get the mark “Passed” the maximum score for the semester must be 30 and the minimum score must be 18. In the semesters 6 & 8 students take an exam. The semester score is based upon students’ class works, scores for interim control in the semesters 5 & 7, and score for the exam. The maximum distribution of points is the following: semester control is 30 points (30 %), interim control is 30 points (30 %), and exam is 40 points (40 %). Students who have got less than 18 points are not allowed to take the exam. If, during the exam, a student has got less than 24 points the mark “Unsatisfactory” is put in his examination sheet. For different types of work during the semesters students can get from 0,3 up to 10 points.
