Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of courses: Computer Studies within the school curriculum, Introduction to University Studies;
2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations in the field of information and computer technologies, trends in their development, methods of working with them;
3. Knowledge of fundamentals of information and computer technologies, philology, translation studies; methods of searching, processing and storing information;
4. Ability to utilize cutting-edge personal computers with the latest operating systems, programs and cloud services.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to teach the students the key concepts of information and computer technologies, the operation features of programs and services of modern operating systems, the usage of office, cloud, visualization, translation and conversion services for the effective implementation of educational, lecturing and scientific activities.
The discipline is aimed at advancing knowledge of students in computer technologies utilization for professional activities. The discipline focuses on the study of information search principles, operating methods with office, cloud and multimedia-interactive technologies, means of organizing video conferences, programs for visualizing one's own work, and the application of the latest scientific databases. Students take advantage of the latest operating systems, programs, search engines, databases, cloud, office, visualization and video conferencing services, as well as get to know the localization software for sites and apps interfaces.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Methods: practical training, individual study.
Activities: oral report, multi-level document, mind map, multimedia presentation, final assessment.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of the final evaluation is formative assessment.
According to the types of activities, students get the following number of grades:
practical studies - from 0 to 4 grades (4x14 = 56 grades);
mind map, multimedia presentation - from 0 to 12 grades;
multi-level document (specified requirements) - from 0 to 12 grades;
final test - from 0 to 20 grades;
Obtained during the study of the discipline, grades are transferred in the percentage equivalent (20% of the obtained grades - from the maximum of 100 grades - 20 grades) to the formation of the final grade for the semester of the next part of the complex / multi-semester discipline ("Ethnolinguistics" encompassing the complex discipline "Applied Linguistics").
